My name is Kristina, and I have been facilitating antenatal/childbirth classes and postnatal courses since 2010.
I have worked with many fantastic organisations such as Plunket, Parents Centre, Birthcare Huntly, Auckland Hospital, Mama Inc, and Birthcare Parnell.
I am also lucky enough to be mum to 4 children, as well as having a wonderful and supportive husband, who I couldn't have done all this without.
It was through my first pregnancy that I began thinking about childbirth education classes.
Our introduction into parenthood was not easy.
Once I had my new daughter in my arms, I kept thinking that there had to be a better way for new parents to receive information. I could see the short falls in the education parents received through some big providers, and decided I could do a better job of it...
Over the next 3 years I completed a Diploma in Childbirth Education, as well as adult learning and facilitation.
I am not a midwife, I am a Childbirth Educator and adult facilitator, which means I explore each topic in an unbiased, non clinical way that is easy to understand. I stay on top of new information by attending workshops, reading current research and having regular discussions with peers. If there is ever a question I cannot answer or am not sure of the answer in a class, I suggest you talk to your LMC.
Later in my career I trained as a CPR/First aid instructor with Professional Resuscitation Services, and offer 2 hour classes on infant and child CPR, choking and anaphylaxis. I enjoy helping new parents feel confident in being able to assist a child in an emergency.
Years later, I still love my job and getting to know the families that come my way.
My only goal in teaching any class is that parents leave feeling more confident in themselves. One way doesn't always fit everyone, so we cover all the options so you can decide what is right for you and your baby.
Come and explore your options with me, and leave feeling more confident in your journey ahead!
