A private class can be held as:
-one on one, with me, you and your support person
-a small group made up with friends/family who are expecting a baby at a similar time.
All of these courses can be held online or in person. * Please note no classes are pre-recorded, they are all live with me.
All classes have important topics that should be covered, however private sessions can be tailor made to discuss what you would like.

Please note - a couple could be any variation of a pregnant person, and one support person.
This is a private antenatal class that can cover all the information a generic class would discuss, or we can tailor it to suit your individual needs.
This course is a minimum of 6 hours in length to cover most topics in a relaxed manner.
Course can be held online or in person.
Flexibility to hold as 1 x 6 hour day, or broken up into 3 x 2hr sessions.
Best attended in mid to late pregnancy - 25 weeks +

Pregnancy: HDC code, informed decision making.
Preparing for birth: pelvic anatomy, position of baby.
Hormones through labour: what they cause through labour and postnatally, what can encourage them, what can slow them down.
Labour: signs of labour, physiological birth, monitoring through labour, induction of labour, assisted birth, medical pain management.
Postnatally: Role of LMC, current screening and newborn assessments, depression and anxiety, SUDI prevention, Feeding baby, baby care
This is great for a partner who has not yet been through the adventure of a new baby before, or for a experienced family who needs a recap, and to hear about new recommendations for keeping baby safe.
Course is held online
It is best held after 30 weeks pregnancy
Includes follow up email with reputable links for further reading, and a brief summary of what was discussed in class.
We will also discuss finding a baby/parent social and support network for your growing family.

Refresher course contents:
Labour and birth: Processing your last birthing experience, recap of signs of labour, labour and birth, reminder of the birthing hormones and the role they play, medical pain management
Postnatal: reminders of newborn behaviour, current SUDI prevention recommendations, depression and anxiety signs, tips for introducing siblings, breastfeeding reminders.
This 2 hr course is ideal for anyone who cares for children under 8 years old, or is expecting a baby.
Can be attended in pregnancy or afterwards
Hands on practice with smart manikins to see in real time your compression's and rescue breathing - in person only

A lot of pregnant couples are wanting a natural birth - but the planning rarely goes beyond just saying that!
Did you know your labour and birth venue can impact your birth?
So can the people present, the mothers movements, breathing even her thoughts can slow down or speed up the natural birthing hormones.
In this course we talk about how your body works, what helps the hormones work through labour and what you and your support team can do to to move through this process.
Course can be held online or in person

Late Pregnancy: Your rights when accessing maternity care in NZ, role of the LMC, common discomforts and tips to help, warning signs in labour, preparation for birth; pelvic floor muscles and optimal fetal positioning, planning ahead mentally and physically for labour and birth, guided massage and mindful breathing.
Labour & Birth: signs of labour, physiological labour and birth, the role of the birthing hormones, self help measures, role of the support person, common monitoring through labour, how to write a birth plan (Medical assistance is also discussed briefly, so in case your plans change, you are informed)
Postnatal: Current recommendations for newborn screening, Vitamin K, immunisations, newborn appearance, common challenges new parents face; anxiety & depression, sleep deprivation, crying baby, unwanted advice, newborn behaviour and cues, SUDI prevention: Safe sleep, breastfeeding, practical parenting; how to hold, bath and dress a baby, change a nappy
A class specifically designed for families who are having a planned cesarean birth.
Antenatal classes spend time discussing optimal fetal positioning for birth, labour, self help, induction of labour, assisted vaginal birth and pain management options.
This adds up to over two hours of material that is not applicable to a family who are having a planned CS.
Hours of time that can be used to talk about what actually matters to your situation.
This class designed to focus on topics relating to your planned cesarean birth, your recovery, managing a newborn whilst recovering, and common challenges you may face in the postnatal period.
Course can be held online or in person
Can be held as a full day course (6hr) or spaced out as 3 x 2hr sessions.

Early Pregnancy Course:
Often in antenatal classes held in late pregnancy I hear parents saying 'oh I wish we had known that earlier, I would have done this instead!'
This is a unique class designed for early pregnancy to help navigate all the new information, and run through the choices that you soon will have to make - that can impact your whole birthing experience.
Course is held online
It can help lead directly into a scheduled antenatal class
Best attended in early pregnancy - conception to 20 weeks.
